Relative to the Numola long handle tea infuser, it’s best to use a 16 oz mug to gain the best experience with “the Queen’s septer.” The long handle lays perfectly on the side of a larger mug and allows the tea drinker to remove the tea infuser without wet finger results. With this long handle stainless steel stick, I’m inclined to “stir, not bob” my tea infuser. Admittedly, I will roll the ball against the side of the mug to hear the sound of the tea infuser against the mug. Uncouth? Maybe… but just like the tea pot’s whistle, I enjoy hearing the music of my tea infuser against my mug. It calms me, serving as a singing bowl of loose leaf delight.
As an American tea drinker, I don’t mind the long awaiting 2-3 minutes to pass for my steeping cup of tea. My fingers and hands warm against the tea / coffee mug and the aroma of the loose leaf serves as a prompt to relax, enjoy the moment.
If you took a look at my lazy susan where I keep all of my teas, you’ll see how many style of tea infusers I have. (Yes, they are literally falling inside the cabinetry as I spin my lazy susan.) I am obsessed with loose leaf teas, particularly when I’m teleworking from home or in the evenings when I’m winding down. I feel loose leaf teas are fresher in taste and more aromatic than previously bagged, store shelved tea. Don’t get me wrong though, I’ll carry tea bags if I have to for office work, on the go or while traveling but I digress from the topic of infusers.
I am partial to several styles of loose leaf tea infusers. The ones that I’m favoring more are the open top cups that stand as I’m pouring in the loose leaf tea with a tea spoon. I can lift and settle the tea infuser on the rim of my tea cup. In cleaning these infusers, I don’t need to get my fingers wet in trying to remove the loose leaf tea. I have the ability of flipping and knocking out the wet loose leaf that remains or allowing the rinsing water to remove the rest prior to soap washing my infuser.
This is why the Numola long handle is one of my favorite new styles of tea infusers. If my infuser is completely dry, I can literally put the infuser directly into my container of loose leaf tea, open the tea ball by the long handle and shake the tea into the ball. I eliminate the need for a teaspoon to add the loose leaf tea into the infuser. If I don’t want to put the Numola Long Handle into my loose leaf tea container, the long handle allows me to fill the tea infuser with a strong grip. There’s no concern for tipping out the loose leaf tea, especially if I turn the infuser upside down, fill the top half of the infuser with a tea spoon of tea, close and turn right side up to place into the tea cup or mug. I’m able to use either my right or left hand to open the infuser, add the loose leaf then quickly close the infuser. Viola! My tea can steep until it’s ready!
To have a mug of tea is my cup of tea. Yes, who doesn’t love a dainty beau-tea-ful tea cup but those cups are when I want to feel pretty, a special occasion or when I have friends over. I my real-world, I need a 16 ouncer. My daily rituals are grabbing the large mugs for my 16 oz of caffeinated tea in the am and large mug of night-time teas to begin my calming tea-time, night-time routine, before I go to bed. I want that 16 oz of tea to sip or gulp depending on my work load or my relaxation time.
I will admit my hack though. I have been known to offer specific brands or previously packed tea bags and place them folded into my Numola long handle tea infuser. Some of my friends are learly on loose leaf for one reason or another. Whatever their reason, I struggle with the presentation of my bagged tea. A floating tea bag is not as nice as a tea infuser. I’ve used my Numola tea infuser by putting in the tea bags and presenting the mug with the long stick. The Numola long handle adds a beau-tea-ful and fun presentation of my tea offering.
In addition, some of my friends don’t know the difference if I present loose leaf or not. They’re around the corner of the kitchen, far from the eye of what available teas I have. Frankly, they’re looking for specific flavors of the available teas that I have not necessarily if it’s loose leaf or bagged tea. It’s a very sturdy tea infuser, well-made and certainly a keeper for a long time. When I’m discarding the loose leaf or tea bag, it’s the flick of the wrist into the garbage and a rinse in the sink with soap. I’ll tap out the water when it’s open then close the tea ball to allow it to air dry on my dish dryer. It’s easy to find again in my dish rack and doesn’t hook onto my dish dryer wiring.
